Evan Kuhlmann is a passionate music educator who has been teaching students of all ages professionally for 20 years. Evan currently serves on the faculty of the Colburn Community School of Performing Arts, having previously instructed at Azusa Pacific and Portland State Universities. He also assists the bassoon studio at the USC Thornton School of Music as a Visiting Lecturer. He maintains a private teaching studio, works regularly with students from the Youth Orchestra Los Angeles, and is fortunate to have worked with students through such programs as Bassoons Without Borders, BRAVO Youth Orchestras, the Filarmónica Joven de Colombia, Interlochen Arts Camp, Marrowstone Music Festival, Metropolitan Youth Symphony, and Music Camps @ Wallowa Lake. He has taught masterclasses at schools including California State University - Fullerton, the Conservatorio de Música de Puerto Rico, Interlochen Arts Academy, Manhattan School of Music, University of Denver, University of Missouri - Kansas City, University of Oregon, and University of Southern California.
A beneficiary of many scholarship programs himself, Evan is proud to offer and support student financial aid programs. He has never turned away a student for reasons of financial hardship, prioritizing instead the accessibility of quality instruction for any serious student demonstrating the desire to learn and willingness to work diligently.
